FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing contact wire for electrified railways from heat-strengthened copper alloys. Method of manufacturing contact wire from thermally strengthened copper-based alloy includes feeding alloy into crystallizer, crystallization of alloy in form of continuously cast billet, deformation of said billet into rod, hardening, formation of a contact wire with a shaped profile at successive combination in one operation of equal-channel angular pressing according to the Conform scheme and pressing of the wire profile at temperature not higher than 500 °C, aging at 400–500 °C, wherein deformation on rod is carried out in a continuous cycle, first by rolling with temperature reduction of up to 300 °C and subsequent multi-step sign-alternating bending in rollers at temperature of 300–400 °C with total accumulated degree of deformation of rod surface layers e≥2. In compliance with second version, proposed method comprises feeding alloy into crystallizer, crystallization of alloy in form of continuous cast billet, deformation of billet into rod, hardening, formation of a contact wire with a shaped profile, aging at 400–500 °C, wherein deformation on the rolled wire is carried out in a continuous cycle, first by rolling with temperature reduction of up to 300 °C and subsequent multi-step sign-alternating bending in rollers at temperature of 300–400 °C with total accumulated degree of deformation of surface layers of rod of e≥2, and formation of wire with shaped profile in conditions of continuous processing is carried out by shaped drive rolls.

EFFECT: invention provides improved characteristics of strength and wear resistance of contact wire, which increases service life before replacement on railway main lines and, accordingly, reduced operating costs.
