SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to predict the risk of macular oedema in the postoperative period in the surgical management of retinal detachment. Content of IL-6 in the vitreous body is determined. If the content of IL-6 in the vitreous body is higher than 149.65 pg/ml, a high risk of macular oedema is predicted. If the content of IL-6 in the vitreous body is equal to or less than 149.65 pg/ml, a low risk of macular oedema is predicted.
EFFECT: method enables accurate prediction of the risk of macular oedema in the postoperative period in the surgical management of retinal detachment by determining the IL-6 content in the vitreous body.
