FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to predict the risk of macular oedema in the postoperative period in the surgical management of retinal detachment. Subsilicone fluid is extracted from vitreous cavity and content of IL-6 in subsilicone fluid is determined. If the IL-6 content in the subsilicone liquid is more than 199 pg/ml, a high risk of macular oedema is predicted. If the content of IL-6 in the subsilicone liquid is equal to or less than 199 pg/ml, a low risk of macular oedema is predicted.
EFFECT: method enables accurate prediction of the risk of macular oedema in the postoperative period in the surgical management of retinal detachment by determining the content of IL-6 in the subsilicone fluid.
