SUBSTANCE: method of initial filling of underground reservoir in deposits of soluble rocks, which includes pumping of gas through process well into underground reservoir with simultaneous displacement of brine through the well, is characterized by cyclic operation of gas compressor. Between cycles of compressor operation, replacement of brine is performed by energy of gas compressed in underground reservoir. At the initial stage of gas injection, a gas cushion is created, which ensures stable operation of the gas pumping unit. After creation of gas cushion gas injection with displacement of brine is carried out in stages. At each pumping stage the maximum allowable gas pressure in the underground reservoir is achieved. Value of this pressure is determined from the condition of hydraulic fracturing of rocks. Between the pumping stages the extraction of brine from the process well is continued till the minimum permissible value of gas pressure in the underground reservoir. Value of the minimum allowable pressure is determined from the condition of ensuring continuity of brine extraction. Cycles are repeated until complete replacement of brine with gas.

EFFECT: this method of operation provides considerable reduction of power consumption.
