FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing filler for fire extinguishing powder composition based on ammonium phosphates. Disclosed is a method of producing spherical superhydrophobic particles of silicon dioxide for fire extinguishing powder, characterized by the ratio of components for a single-step process of producing tetraethoxysilane: polymethylhydrosiloxane: NH4OH:C2H5OH:H2O, is 1:0.006:1.5:9.5:(22–32). Disclosed method enables to obtain spherical superhydrophobic particles of silicon dioxide, the size of which varies in range of 20–80 nm, and the average value of the contact angle of water wetting exceeds 150°.
EFFECT: use of spherical superhydrophobic silicon dioxide particles in fire extinguishing powders for manual and automatic fire extinguishing systems provides their high specific fire extinguishing capacity, free fluidity and superhydrophobic properties of the main components.
