FIELD: radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio navigation and can be used in aircraft instrument landing systems. Disclosed method uses radar navigation aids. Method for radar determination of the roll angle of an aircraft consists in the fact that a passive radio beacon is placed at a point with known coordinates, which is two spatially spaced apart in the horizontal plane polarization-anisotropic trihedral angle reflectors with horizontal and vertical linear intrinsic polarisations, respectively. From the aircraft, the receiving-transmitting antenna irradiates the passive radio beacon with a linearly polarized electromagnetic wave, the polarization plane of which is fixed and makes an angle of π/4 with the transverse axis of the aircraft. Reflected electromagnetic wave in a linear polarization basis is received aboard the aircraft. Horizontal and vertical linearly polarized components are separated from the received wave and the angle of roll of the aircraft is determined from the measured amplitudes at the output of the receiver.

EFFECT: increasing the speed of aircraft roll angle measurements using radar method.
