FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method includes emitting, from points with known coordinates, linearly polarised electromagnetic waves, the electric field vector of which coincides with the vertical plane; a receiving antenna on-board the aircraft receives electromagnetic waves; the signal from the output of the receiving antenna is transmitted to two polarisation rotators, the Faraday rotation angles of which are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction; signals from the output of each polarisation rotator are transmitted to an on-board computer, where the amplitude of the signals is measured and the bank angle of the aircraft is determined using an a priori relationship which links the bank angle and the amplitude value at the output of the rotators.
EFFECT: low bank angle measurement error.
