FIELD: separation.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for determination of phase boundary position and further separation of gas-liquid mixture into fractions. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that the visual-acoustic separator includes a container for a mixture of fluids, which includes a tube with a valve for supplying the mixture, at least one measuring container, at least one ultrasonic sensor located in the lower part of the measuring container and configured to acoustically determine the position of the boundaries of the sections of fluids or phases, reference point, located at a distance from the ultrasonic sensor, at least two discharge ports with valves for the discharge of each fluid or phase from the fluid mixture container and measuring containers, fluid mixture container and measuring containers are hydraulically connected to each other by means of channels, measuring container is made with possibility of its replacement, and said separator is made with possibility of using visual and acoustic determination of position of boundaries of sections of fluids or phases, wherein the separator is made with possibility of only acoustic determination of the position of the boundaries of the sections of fluids or phases in the case of using an opaque measuring container, contamination of the walls of the measuring container or using optically similar or indistinguishable liquids, separator can only visually determine the position of fluid or phase boundaries in case of triple point in separator or during degassing process.
EFFECT: high reliability of determining boundaries of fluid sections.
