FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of clarification of saponite clay suspensions and can be used for separation of suspended substances from clay suspensions at mining enterprises. Method of clarifying the clay suspension is carried out by adding a precipitant and subsequent separation of the solid phase. Precipitant used is a product of reaction of adipic acid with diethylenetriamine. Consumption of precipitant for sedimentation is 11.0-40.3 mg per 25 ml of clay suspension, concentration of which is 4-12 g/l. Sedimentation over, supernatant is separated from sediment by decantation and, if required, additionally compacted by centrifugation at 3000-5000 rpm for 1-5 minutes.

EFFECT: faster process of clarification of saponite clay suspension without using synthetic polymer flocculants, reduced costs and harmful emissions into water bodies.
