FIELD: mining industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the mining industry in the processes of enrichment of diamond-bearing kimberlite rocks for purification of recycled water. The method for water purification from saponite-containing material and sand includes diluting with water a sample of pulp taken from a depth of the tailings dump no less than 1 m, with a concentration of suspended solids from 300 to 400 g/l, in a ratio of 1:1, settling for 30 minutes. The top layer, which is a clarified suspension with saponite, is taken into a separate container, while leaving sand at the bottom. In the resulting suspension, magnesium chloride hexaqua is added in 0.01 M sodium hydroxide solution with a concentration of 0.15 mol/l in an amount of 20 ml per 1000 ml of suspension, stirred for 5 minutes and kept for 120 minutes.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain purified process water after the enrichment process, reduce the environmental burden on the ambience and isolate saponite, a valuable raw material in the building materials industry.
