FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of providing geodynamic safety during development of subsoil and earth surface and can be used for evaluation of intensity of manifestation of dangerous geodynamic processes in places of anthropogenic impact on earth's crust. Method for determining the thickness of the layer of the earth's crust, which is in an extremely stressed state, includes selecting points for measuring parameters of the state of the earth's crust, located on the profiles, the length of which is greater than the assumed thickness of the layer of the extremely stressed state, measuring the concentration of radioactive gases in the soil air. Radioactive gas emission is used to determine the depth h of the location of the destruction regions in the earth's crust and the thickness of the earth's crust layer H, which is in an extremely stressed state. Thickness of the earth's crust layer H is taken to be equal to the maximum depth of the destruction zones: H = hmax.
EFFECT: high accuracy, efficiency and detail of estimating the thickness of the layer of the extremely stressed state of the earth's crust in different regions, including during periods of low seismic activity.
