FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of research of the earth's surface, in particular with the help of remote probing of the Earth from space using satellites. Essence of the invention consists in determining, from satellite multispectral data, the average spatial resolution of inundated floodplain wetlands, in which used are images of the Earth's surface obtained by spacecraft, having undergone procedures for correcting atmospheric distortions, radiometric calibration, annual minimum values of spectral brightness coefficients in the red and near infrared ranges of the spectrum in each pixel of the satellite image for each year of the satellite data archive are summed up and the fraction of the water surface in each pixel is determined.
EFFECT: simple technique of mapping inundated floodplain wetlands with simultaneous increase in the accuracy of determining flooded areas.
