FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry and counterfeit protection of products. Disclosed is a method of producing a marking composition for protecting articles. Method involves synthesis of organometallic coordination compound of rare-earth metal [Tb(H2O)4(HL)], consisting in that a mixture of terbium nitrate hexahydrate and 4-(2,5-dicarboxyphenoxy)phthalic acid (H4L) is dissolved in a mixture of acetonitrile and water, obtained solution is heated to 110-130 °C for 24-72 hours, after cooling precipitated organometallic compound is separated from solution, washed with a mixture of water and acetonitrile and dried, then carrageenan is dissolved in water while heating from 70-100 °C, adding an organometallic coordination compound of a rare-earth metal [Tb(H2O)4(HL)], mixed until homogeneous liquid suspension with content of organometallic coordination compound of rare-earth metal [Tb(H2O)4(HL)] from 0.1 to 10 mg/ml.

EFFECT: high reliability of protecting products from forgery and longer afterglow time.
