FIELD: chemistry; physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to protect products from counterfeit. Method of producing a luminescent dye for marking articles is characterized by that a mixture of terbium nitrate hexahydrate and 5,5'-(pyridine-2,6-diylbis(oxy))diisophthalic acid, or a mixture of europium nitrate hexahydrate and 5,5'-(pyridine-2,6-diylbis(oxy))diisophthalic acid, or a mixture of europium nitrate hexahydrate and terbium nitrate hexahydrate and 5,5'-(pyridine-2,6-diylbis (oxy))diisophthalic acid dissolved in a mixture of acetonitrile and water. Obtained solution is loaded into a glass ampoule, sealed and heated to 110–130°C, a precipitate is obtained. Then the precipitate is filtered and washed with water. Obtained dye powder is dispersed by ultrasound in ethanol, then glycerine is added and mixed to obtain a luminescent suspension.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase reliability of products protection against counterfeiting.
