FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for indication and visual control of temperature in technological processes. Disclosed is a reversible thermochemical color indicator based on a double bimetallic coordination compound – dihydrate of hexa(isothiocyanato)chromate(III)diaquatris (nicotinic acid) of terbium (III), having reversible color change upon heating to 120 °C. Composition of the compound is characterized by the chemical formula [Tb(C6H5NO2)3(H2O)2][Cr(NCS)6]⋅2H2O.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain from the available starting materials a heat-sensitive material which is not difficult to obtain, stable during storage, non-toxic and odorless, thermally stable under operating conditions, providing reversible transition of color when heated from pink to dark green.
