FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing 2,5-diformylfuran, which can be used in production of different furan-containing derivatives and functional materials such as polyimines and polyamides, fluorescent materials, surfactants, as well as medicinal preparations. Method involves dissolving fructose in dimethyl sulphoxide with addition of a bromide-containing catalyst. After dissolving fructose in dimethylsulphoxide with addition of a bromide-containing catalyst in the reaction vessel, the vessel with the mixture is filled with an inert gas and closed with a cover with a gas outlet tube immersed into a container with glycerine. Further, reaction mixture is heated to 150 °C and stirring for 16 hours at rate of 600 rpm, followed by separating the synthesized substance by extraction and purification by column chromatography.
EFFECT: high efficiency of the process of producing 2,5-diformylfuran.
