FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for electrolytic production of silicon for making functional materials and electrochemical devices for converting and accumulating energy. Proposed is a method for electrolytic synthesis of silicon precipitate with a developed specific surface from molten salts, including electrolysis of a chloride-fluoride molten electrolyte using a glass-carbon cathode, wherein electrolysis is carried out in galvanostatic mode at temperature from 540 to 560 °C and cathode current density from 15 to 50 mA/cm2 for 120 to 240 minutes, wherein electrolyte used is a mixture of following composition, wt.%: caesium chloride (CsCl) – 70-80; potassium chloride (KCl) – 8-15; lithium chloride (LiCl) – 8-10; potassium hexafluorosilicate (K2SiF6) – 4-5.
EFFECT: simple implementation of the method and obtaining silicon of the required morphology and dimensions while lowering the temperature of the process.
