FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrolytic production of silicon, which can be used in clean and relatively safe small-scale energy industries, for example, in lithium-ion batteries with anodes based on silicon nano-composite structures and solar cells, which have improved performance characteristics. The method includes electrolysis of a KCl halide melt with silicon-containing additive K2SiF6 content of no more than 5 (weight percentage), which is carried out at a temperature of 780-800°C, a cathodic current density of no more than 50 mA/cm2 and a cathodic overvoltage of no more than 250 mV.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to obtain high-purity silicon in the form of continuous and submicron precipitates of a fibrous structure while simplifying the composition of the electrolyte and reducing the complexity of preliminary preparation of the electrolyte, as well as the possibility to use a wide range of structural materials by reducing the chemical activity of the electrolyte.
