FIELD: water treatment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of purifying natural and waste water using physical and chemical methods and can be used in different industries. A stream of the water to be treated is provided and said stream is fed into a pretreatment vessel. Chemical reagents consisting of coagulant and flocculant are fed into said vessel. Chemical reagents are fed into vessel via branch pipes arranged at different height. Volume of container is selected so that duration of reaction of purified water with chemical reagents reaches up to 60 minutes at temperature from +1 °C to +30 °C. After pretreatment, the water to be purified is fed from the container to the inlet of the filter with a polymer load in a top-down direction. Filtration material used is a layer with thickness of not less than 0.5 m, consisting of polymer granules with size from 2 mm to 10 mm and with density from 1.01 g/cm3 to 1.5 g/cm3. Purified water is discharged from the filter. As contaminants accumulate, filtration material is washed by partial drainage of filter with further supply of compressed air in upward direction and flushing water supply in upward direction.

EFFECT: high reactivity between contaminants and reagents added at the pretreatment step, reduced clogging of the filter charge, high efficiency of cleaning.
