FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to anaesthesiology and resuscitation. Before the operation, the patient's sex, age, the presence of chronic heart failure, the duration of arbitrary threshold apnoea in seconds are determined by conducting a breath-holding test, an operational risk, partial dependence on a scale of functional independence FIM, use of anticoagulants/antiaggregants, and further risk (K) is determined by original formula. If the K value is more than -4.69, the patient is referred to a high-risk group of developing postoperative delirium; if the K value is -4.69 and less, the patient is referred to a low-risk group.
EFFECT: method enables predicting the preoperative development of postoperative delirium by determining preoperative risk factors reliably affecting the onset of delirium, which in turn enables to optimize the perioperative period in these patients.
