FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray diagnostics and otorhinolaryngology, and may be used in preparing for a surgical intervention within a cochlear implantation in the children suffering sensorineural hearing loss and deafness accompanying cochlear abnormalities. Method involves CT of temporal bones in an oblique orbito-meatal projection with the patient lying on his/her back with his/her head thrown back so that a scanning area extends along a line from a lower wall of an eye socket to an upper wall of an external auditory canal. Computed tomography is performed at 130 KV, 25 mA, scanning time 0.8 sec, section thickness 0.6 mm. An apex of a mastoid process, a basal spiral, a grey line division into vestibular and tympanic stairs, middle and apical spirals of the cochlea, an internal auditory canal and a cochlear aperture are visualised.

EFFECT: method provides visualizing the transition of the middle helix into an apical one, visualizing the cochlear configuration completely, dividing the cochlea into the vestibular and tympanic stairs with reducing the radiation load on the lens by locating the examination area below the eyeball.
