SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, particularly, to filtration elements incorporated with filters intended for cleaning liquid and gaseous media. Invention relates to a filter element and a filter. Filter element comprises a hollow inside and closed in cross section permeable bearing frame made of an elastic material, on top of which a filtering screen is installed, closed from above by a protective frame, wherein the filtering screen is a sleeve made of an elastic filtering material with a given fineness of filtration, perimeter of filtering screen in cross section is less than perimeter of bearing frame by 2-5 %, filtering screen is stretched in direction perpendicular to longitudinal axis of filtering element. Filter comprises end parts rigidly connected to each other, and at least one said filter element.

EFFECT: possibility of self-cleaning of the filter element during operation while maintaining and maintaining the predetermined fineness of filtration.
