SUBSTANCE: catalyst composition, mass-%: copper oxide, 1.25 - 15; manganese dioxide, 2.37-3.48; chromium oxide, 0.37-1.46; zinc oxide, 0.25-1.49; aluminium oxide, remainder. In the course of alkylation of aniline, load by initial mixture per 1 dm3 of catalyst for an hour for producing 650 g of N-methylaniline and 750 g of N-ethylaniline at yield of 98.5 and 95.5%, respectively against 350 g and 88% in known case which is indicative of enhanced activity and selectivity of new composition of catalyst. EFFECT: enhanced activity and selectivity of catalyst due to introduction of chromium and zinc oxides in catalyst composition. 1 tbl
