FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: prior to charging vanadium pentoxide into furnace, it is mixed with wastes of thermal power station residual fuel oil (rich and lean slimes and ashes) and sodium carbonate or bicarbonate in mass ratio of 1:(0.2-1.0):(0.01-0.10), and melting is carried out in two stages. At the first stage, temperature is maintained at 580-780 C for 0.2-0.5 h, and then, temperature is elevated up to 1000-1100 C. Method provides for using alloy for direct steel alloying without its conversion into ferrovanadium due to increased strength and density of produced pellets, reduced corrosivity of alloy with respect to furnace lining, content in it of manganese, chromium and titanium impurities. EFFECT: provision of use of alloy for steel alloying without its preliminary conversion into ferrovanadium alloy and cut down costs of alloy. 4 tbl
