FIELD: powder metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves assembling multilayer blank from preliminarily pressed layers of powder of metal die and layers of unidirectional discrete fibers; briquetting blank, heating it in shielding medium, hot pressing under the pressure of 500-600 MPa in the direction normal to layers; subsequent extrusion in the direction of fiber orientation. For composite material obtained from powdered iron ПЖ4М2 and steel fiber (55) dia. 0.2 mm, P=0.4 cm, with volumetric content of fibers 24% ultimate stress is σf is (575-590) MPa, impact toughness an is (293-300) J/cm2.
