After 30 min, 1, 4 and 8 h incubation macrophages are separated from unattached microbes and proteins from abdominal cavity exudate, stained with fluorochromes, which bind specifically with DNA (ethidium bromide and mitramycin) and subjected for automatic analysis using impulse cytofluorimeter. Activity of phagocytic reaction and phagocytosic completeness are estimated on the basis of macrophage distribution (on histograms) and fluorescence intensity (proportionally with DNA content).
