FIELD: manufacture of an expanded incorporation product of metal chloride into graphite used in aviation, space technology, chemical and metallurgical industries. SUBSTANCE: graphite is treated with vapors of anhydrous copper chloride or rare-earth metal at 500-700 C till a weight increase of 40-140 wt %. The graphite with the member incorporated thereinto is treated with sulfuric acid and an oxidizing agent, washed to a pH of 7 of the wash water and expanded on heating to 500-800 C. The claimed process improves the degree of expansion of a laminated product of graphite by more than 2 times and electric conduction by 2-3 times. EFFECT: improved electric conduction and greater degree of expansion of the incorporation product of copper chloride into graphite or a rare-earth metal selected from the group consisting of lanthanoides. 2 cl, 1 tbl
