FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: method involves liquid-phase acetoxylation of 1,3-butadiene carried out at 70-90 C and pressure 7.0-10.0 Mpa in presence of catalyst containing activated carbon carrier and active ingredient including palladium or tellurium, thallium, gallium, germanium, rhodium or tungsten and constituting intermetallide with general formula Pd4Te2M3 or Rh2TeM, wherein M is thallium, gallium, or germanium and content of intermetallide is 4.5 to 5.8 wt %, or intermetallide with general formula Pd4Te3W2 or Rh4Te3W, contents of the latter being 3.4 to 5.2 wt %. Process is carried out by adding peracetic acid to reaction mixture in amounts from 5.0 to 30.0% of intermetallide weight. Productivity of process is 1.87 to 2.0 g per 1 l of catalyst in 1 hr.
