FIELD: testing technology; testing various hollow articles and systems for tightness. SUBSTANCE: closed volume under test is connected to test reservoir arranged inside it and filling is continued till test pressure inside them is equalized. Then compressed gas is fed to volume under test, flow rate of this gas is measured and regulated making pressure in volume under test rise as compared with test reservoir, after which flow rate of gas is reduced so that pressure in volume under test gets equal to and then lesser than pressure in test reservoir. Equality of pressures in volume under test and in test reservoir, as well as pressure drop between them is determined by availability and direction of transfer of gas between volume under test and test reservoir. Rate of leakage is rate of flow of gas fed to volume under test at moment pressure in this volume and in test reservoir get equal. EFFECT: reduction of test duration at retained accuracy. 2 cl, 2 dwg
