FIELD: oil refinery. SUBSTANCE: method to extract vanadium from petroleum cokes provides for reduction of ilmenite concentrate by petroleum coke of thermocontact cracking with sulfur share of no less than 7 % and vanadium of no less than 0.6 % under temperature of 1200 - 1300 C and with transfer of vanadium from coke into products of reduction, that are being cooled with speed of 100 - 180 dgr/min in inert atmosphere. Then magnetic separation is exercised with production of magnetic product. EFFECT: method allows to increase assimilation of sulfur by magnetic product and so to decrease its discharge in atmospheric environment. 1 tbl
