FIELD: seismic prospecting. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiators of elastic waves in liquid used in particular in sea seismic prospecting and in seismic acoustics. Pneumatic source includes rod 1 with stepped base piston 2 mobile with reference to it, extreme pistons 3 and 4 made fast to rod 1, mobile cylinders 5 and 6 embracing rod 1 with pistons 2, 3 and 4. These elements form main controlling 7 and working 8 chambers, supplementary controlling and working chambers 9 and 10. To supply air into supplementary controlling chamber 10 there are: inlet duct 12, circular space 13, feed duct 14, relief duct 15 with check valve 16. To supply air into main working chamber 8 there are: inlet duct 17, relief duct 18. On filling of chambers 9 and 10 signal to initiate electric air-operated valve 20 is sent. With this supplementary working chamber 10 is open. After reception of high-frequency seismic signal from deepest horizons command for operation of electric air-operated valve 19 is generated. Compressed air is emitted from main working chamber 8. Simultaneously feed of compressed air into supplementary working chamber is switched over. EFFECT: enhanced seismic efficiency by increased stability of seismic signals. 1 dwg
