FIELD: seismic prospecting. SUBSTANCE: pneumatic source has case 1 with shell 2, electropneumatic valve 3, shut-off unit 8 passed through partition 4. Bottom piston 5 closes port 5 in case 1. Working chamber is divided by servo piston 13 into backup space 30 filled with flexible material and exhaust space 29. Damping chamber 16 communicates with relief chamber 14 through electropneumatic valve 3 and with damping chamber 22 through transfer duct 23 having check valve 24. When compressed air is exhausted from space 29, flexible material in space 30 works for expansion and intensifies seismic pulse. Bottom piston 10 provides for opening check valve 24, provides communication between control and damping chambers 16 and 22 thereby affording fast reset of shut-off unit 8. EFFECT: improved intensity of seismic signal, higher efficiency and resolving power. 2 cl, 4 dwg
