METHOD OF CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF THIN METALLIC STRIP Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of continuous production of thin metallic strip comprises steps of feeding a melt into a heated metal receiver; dipping in the melt a cooled drum, being rotated; freezing the melt on a working surface and on ends of the drum; removing the strip from the drum and moving it over a surface of the melt in the metal receiver, trimming lateral edges of the strip and feeding them into the melt; drawing the strip from the metal receiver and coiling it. The metal receiver is being heated in addition in order, that heat quantity was sufficient for melting trimmed lateral edges of the strip. A non-oxidizing atmosphere is being provided in a working space of the metal receiver. The lateral edges of the strip are being trimmed by a plasma arc or by a laser beam. EFFECT: increased yielding of metallic strip, high stability of process of making strip with predetermined width. 4 cl, 1 dwg
