FIELD: detectors. SUBSTANCE: along with reciprocating movement cylindrical part is set in relative motion with periodic stops synchronized and cophasal with peaks of axial thrusts on member. Single feed of powder is metered at completion of each reciprocating movement cycle when packing member is lifted. Proposed method makes it possible to improve packing of shell to ~ 2 g·cm-3 over entire height which may be many times greater than its diameter at high quality of shell.
