FIELD: production of tools. SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing three-layer system comprising a layer of diamond powder, silicon plate and intermediate carbide layer of element of III-VI groups or mixture of carbides; heating the system to silicon melting temperature under high pressure at temperature gradient through intermediate layer height so that diamond layer temperature exceeds silicon plate temperature by 100-300 K. Wear-resistance of diamond-bearing layer of caked plate is 0.30-0.34 mm through rear face wear height during cutting.
