FIELD: nuclear physics. SUBSTANCE: scatterer with maximum atomic number which neutron cross-section has no resonances in every region below 1000 eV is placed into reactor channel of nuclear reactor near fuel element. Channel is arranged in moderator for movement along examined fuel element. Scatterer forms flux of slowing-down neutrons going out of fuel element in specified direction. Energy spectrum of slowing-down neutrons within energy region 0-1000 eV is measured by method of transit time. Identification of isotopes is conducted by position of dips within measured spectrum and content of these isotopes is calculated by area of dips.
