FIELD: metallurgical and machine engineering industry branches at making polyhedral tubes, mainly for casings of fuel element assembly in nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rolling a cylindrical tube with a ratio of a thickness of its wall to its outer diameter, equal to (-. 021-0.041), in a polygonal roll grooved pass with use of a mandrel; performing the rolling process with percentage deformation degree, equal to (0.2-0.3); using the polyhedral mandrel, having trapezoidal grooves, uniformly arranged on it. Parameters of the mandrel grooves, of the cylindrical tube grooves and deformation modes are mutually connected by empirical relations. Modes and conditions of deformation are suitable, mainly, for corrosion resistant ferrite type and austenite type steels. EFFECT: enhanced quality of cold rolled polyhedral tubes. 3 dwg
