FIELD: organic chemistry, alcohols. SUBSTANCE: process is carried out by interaction of paraform and acetylene in the presence of catalyst - alkaline metal hydroxide (preferably KOH or NaOH) promoted with equimass mixture of alkaline metal (preferably potassium or sodium formate) and methanol taken at concentration 0.45-5.4% of catalyst mass at molar ratio of catalyst: paraform (0.3-4):1 in the medium of aprotonic nonhydroxylic polar solvent at 0-35 C. Method ensures to decrease explosive hazard of process, yield of product is 65-95.8% , to decrease solvent used consumption from mass ratio paraform:solvent 1:20 to 1:10.
