FIELD: petrochemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method for production of film-forming material comprises cooligomerization of styrene with butadiene in mixture of cooligomer with lower alkylbenzene in presence of titanium tetrachloride and mixture of oxygen-containing promoting compounds followed by ripening of polymerizate, disactivation of titanium tetrachloride by Lewis base and distilling light fractions. Before introduction into cooligomerization, titanium tetrachloride and oxygen-containing compounds are mixed in alklylbenzene solution of a part of styrene at a molar relation of titanium tetrachloride, monomer and a sum of oxygen-containing substances being 1: (1-8) : (0.225: 1.0) and using phenol C6-C14 at 30-90 C for 0.5-60 min in the last mixtures.
