FIELD: corrosion protection of metallic structures, mainly in atmospheric conditions. SUBSTANCE: the invention allows to increase substantially corrosion resistance of metallic structures in different media and conditions by creation of free electron relief on a surface of the metal, being protected, the electrons are being continuously generated and accumulated by an outer source. One variant of an apparatus for realizing the method has an electric circuit, including electrovacuum diode 1, connected with the power source 2. Load resistance 5 is connected parallel to the diode 1 between the cathode 3 and the anode 4. The object, being protected from corrosion, is electrically connected with a common point of an anode lead of the diode 1 and of one lead of the resistor 5. Upon supplying a voltage from the power source 2 to a heater, heating up the cathode 3 till temperature, causing its thermoelectronic emission. Electrons of the anode 4 through the electric circuit are being fed to the resistor 5, then from it as from an accumulator the electrons are flowing onto the object 6, being protected, for forming a negative potential relief on its surface. In the result activity of positive polarity zones is being lowered significantly, these zones are responsible for corrosion processes on surfaces of the metallic structures.
