FIELD: refrigerating engineering. SUBSTANCE: vortex air cooler has preliminary cooling chamber 5 which is arranged concentrically about vortex pipe 1 with cooling jacket 3. Preliminary cooling chamber 5 is made in form of multipass screw conical spiral 6 whose inlets 6 are connected with compressed air supply system 8 and outlets 9 are connected with nozzle inlet 2 of vortex pipe 1. Vortex generators 11 are arranged along noncooled surface 10 of preliminary cooling chamber 5 which makes it possible to obtain cold air at outlet at temperature of from -20 to -22 C at the following parameters of compressed air at vortex pipe inlet: pressure, from 0.6 to 0.7 MPa and temperature, from 20 to 50 C.
