CONTINUOUS METHOD OF 1,1-DICHLOROTETRAFLUOROETHANE SYNTHESIS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: product: 1,1-dichlorotetrafluoroethane CF₃CCl₂F, which does not contain 1,2-dichlorotetrafluoroethane CClCF₂CClF₂ and perfluorinated products, i. e. CF₃CClF₂ and CF₃CF₃ in significant quantities. Method involves stages of interaction of trichlorotrifluoroethane liquid phase (i. e. a mixture of 1,1,1-trichlorotrifluoroethane CCl₃CF₃ and 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane CClF₂CCl₂F) with antimony pentachloride used as a catalyst (i. e. SbCl_5-xF_x, where X is from 0 to 3). Process is carried out at 100-140 C, under pressure 15-18 kg/cm², and gaseous 1,1-dichlorotetrafluoroethane is isolated. Method provides almost quantitative conversion of CF₃CCl₃ to CF₃CCl₂F without significant formation of CClF₂CClF₂, being at continuous technological process. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 6 cl
