FIELD: measurement technology, hydraulic acoustics. SUBSTANCE: method involves directional receiving a dispersed acoustic field by a receiving circuit, use of sea noise with a magnitude of 2 and more as a dispersed acoustic field by conducting two kinds of spatial filtration of the sea noise received at the same time by means of a high-directional antenna circuit, forming a directional characteristic with the principal maximum aperture smaller than an angle of refraction minimum of sea noise in vertical plate, which lies in the same plane within the same angle, and with subordinate maxima at which the noise energy received is at least one-tenth that at the principal maximum, and by a slight - directional antenna circuit with the directional characteristic of near-hemisphere shape of which the axis is forwardly directed in the sense of movement of the submarine device in horizontal plane, and squaring voltages and obtained from outputs of the high- and slight-directional antenna circuits. As the starting operation, the same circuits are used for taking measurements of noises produced by the submarine device at speeds with which it moves at sea-way of magnitude less than 1 during reception of sea noise, and output voltages and of the high- and slight-directional antenna circuits are squared. The coefficient of volumetric acoustic dispersion is calculated from the formula given in the patent specification. EFFECT: simplified design owing to abandoning active hydroacoustic means.
