FIELD: shipbuilding. SUBSTANCE: circular chambers accommodate flexible members which are circular hoses providing circulation of fluid heat-transfer agent heated from heat sources through circular pipelines. Heat-transfer agent is usually air which also function as pressure medium. When shaft stops running in extremely cold liquid medium, primarily sea water containing ice, flexible members are inflated by heat-transfer and pressure medium so that it fills most of circular chambers and at the same time heats up lubricating material in remaining portion of circular chambers to such an extent that its viscosity becomes approximately the same as that of lubricant on revolving shaft. As shaft is rotating, flexible members compress because heat-transfer and pressure medium is not supplied any longer, and circular chambers are emptied and passage through them is shut off. EFFECT: improved design. 6 cl, 5 dwg
