SEALING SYSTEM FOR SHIP'S PROPELLER SHAFTS Russian patent published in 1996 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; sealing systems of ship's propeller shafts. SUBSTANCE: sealing system consists of at least two collar seals connected with outlet pipe of shaft or with outer shaft. Seal of inner shaft rests against ring mounted in housing which is sectional in axial direction. This ring is connected with bearing ring which is concentric relative to it in radial direction by means of flexible circular walls which are provided with edges: some edges are mounted between bearing ring and clamping rings and other edges are mounted between components of ring and additional clamping ring. Mounted between two adjacent components of ring is respective collar seal. End zone of sectional ring directed to ship's bow is provided with supporting sliding bearing engageable with inner shaft or with bearing bush fitted on it. Supporting bearing is provided with lubricant circulating device. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 4 cl, 3 dwg
