FIELD: glass making. SUBSTANCE: sand and water are melted in a SiO2/Na2=2-3,5 molar ratio of 2-3.5 at 120-1400 C. After the melt is cooled, the resulting lumpy liquid glass is crusted to a grain size of less than 2 mm. The crushed liquid glass in the long reaction zone is treated, while mechanically circulating at 600-800 C for 3-120 min. The material leaving the reaction zone is crushed to a fine grain size of less than 1 mm. 6.3-11 wt % of the finished product from the amount of liquid glass are added to the crushed liquid glass at the heat treatment stage. EFFECT: improved properties of sodium silicate.
