FIELD: glass industry.
SUBSTANCE: described is a gel precursor of glass and a method of producing a glass product from gel precursor glass. Gel precursor of glass, intended for melting into molten glass mass for subsequent molding into glass product, contains volumetric amorphous matrix based on oxides, having an inorganic framework of basic components of oxides, and water, which is chemically trapped inside a volume amorphous matrix based on oxides. Main constituents of gel oxides contain from 60 to 85 mol % of silicon dioxide, from 8 to 18 mol % of sodium oxide and from 5 to 15 mol % of calcium oxide, as well as additionally—aluminum oxide and at least one substance from glass framework generators, dyes, oxidation-reduction agents or a combination thereof, wherein the amorphous volumetric matrix based on oxides is homogeneously chemically mixed. Gel precursor glass has density of 1.6 to 1.85 g/cm3 and a surface area of at least 20 m2/g as measured by nitrogen adsorption according to BET, while its density is less than 2.0 g/cm3.
EFFECT: technical result of invention is reduction of power consumption and reduction of time required to obtain glass mass for molding articles.
