FIELD: rare-earth metals preparing. SUBSTANCE: thermal treatment of chloride metal is carried out in the presence of lithium or calcium hydride at 800-900 C. Reaction mass formed is leached with water at the room temperature, and metal hydride powder prepared is heated under vacuum at 800-900 C. EFFECT: improved method of yttrium and scandium preparing.
