FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy and may be used in metallothermic production of nanocrystalline powders of tantalum, mainly, for electrolytic capacitors. Tantalum powder production comprises reduction of tantalum oxide by vapors of magnesium or calcium at increased temperature, acid leaching of magnesium or calcium oxide from reduction products, rinsing of powder to neural state and its drying. Magnesium or calcium tantalate is used as tantalum oxide compound. Reduction by magnesium vapor is performed at 600-1000°C, while by calcium vapor - at 800-1200°C.
EFFECT: specific surface increased to 38,2 m2/g, low content of impurities.
