FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: the seam of a mineral is mined in longwalls in a direction perpendicular to the axes of the main development workings. A pillar of the mineral is formed on one side and a pillar of artificial materials is formed on the other side. The main development workings are mined in the area of rock mass free of rock pressure in above-mined seam rocks between the mineral and artificial material pillars. If the roof rock is hard to cave, the distance between the pillars is set below the first step of roof rock caving, and the pillar of artificial materials is formed with the width larger than six-fold thickness of the seam.
